Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation
This is a 60 to 90 minute assessment with a qualified psychiatric provider in which an individual’s medical, psychological and social history will be reviewed. The goal of this evaluation is to determine an accurate diagnosis which will then lead to the formation of personalized treatment plan. This plan may include psychotherapy, medication, lifestyle or behavioral changes, and/or collaboration with other healthcare providers. Each individual’s needs are unique and it is imperative that a detailed review of one’s concerns be performed in a thoughtful and intentional manner.
Psychopharmacological Management
For some individuals, medication will be recommended as part of an individualized treatment plan. Psychotropic medication can be used to treat a wide array of conditions including – Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Substance Use Disorders, and more. Psychopharmacological Management includes the careful selection, prescribing, monitoring and adjustment of psychotropic medication to address the specific symptom subset that an individual is experiencing. This process is typically overseen by a Psychiatrist or a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and involves regular meetings to assess treatment progress over time.
Psychotherapy
There are many types of psychotherapy available, but at its core, psychotherapy is about the partnership between an individual and clinician that is based upon the formation of a trusting, nonjudgemental, and empathic bond. It is a collaborative and individualized treatment that supports emotional and psychological well-being through the creation of a safe and supportive environment. It is through this supportive space that individuals can explore thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and life experiences, promoting insight, healing, and personal development. Each person’s goals will be different, but psychotherapy generally aims to improve one’s mental health, assist in the development of coping strategies, increase one’s understanding of self, and support individual growth and well-being.
