About Christie ...
Christie (Garbarino) Mofford is a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides diagnostic evaluations, psychopharmacological management, and individual psychotherapy. Christie has worked for over twenty years in a variety of psychiatric environments, including a community mental health center, a dual diagnosis inpatient unit, private practice, and a college counseling center. She enjoys working with adults of all ages who present with a diversity of psychiatric needs. However, she has special interest in addressing the particular clinical needs of women and young adults. Christie has experience supporting women who are pregnant, struggling to get pregnant, managing the postpartum transition, or coping with pregnancy loss. She also has expertise treating young adults who are navigating the transition into and out of college, entering the work force for the first time, or just generally coping with the complex emotional and identity challenges of early adulthood.
Christie maintains a treatment philosophy that is holistic in nature, placing emphasis on assessing and treating the entire person. She believes that combining both medication and psychotherapy often produces the most successful outcomes. She uses psychodynamic, interpersonal, and cognitive behavioral theories in her work with clients. Christie values a collaborative approach in working with the individual to develop an appropriate and agreed upon plan of care. She is passionate about mental health care and grateful to have the opportunity to work with her patients. Christie is Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Providence College and a Master of Science degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Boston College. Christie also completed a fellowship in Behavioral Health at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates.
